Digital entrepreneurship has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years, driven by advancements in technology and the increasing interconnectedness of the global economy. As more traditional barriers to entry are being dismantled, young people are embracing the opportunities offered by the digital landscape to become self-employed and launch their own online businesses. The allure of digital entrepreneurship lies in its flexibility, potential for scalability, and the ability to reach a global customer base from the comfort of one’s own home. The internet provides a vast array of resources and tools for aspiring entrepreneurs to learn, connect, and market their products or services effectively. The low startup costs, coupled with the growing trend of remote work and the desire for greater autonomy, have fueled the interest of young people in carving out their own paths in the digital realm. The allure of being one’s own boss, coupled with the potential for unlimited growth and the chance to turn passion into profit, has made digital entrepreneurship an attractive avenue for the enterprising youth of today.

By implementing this project, The United Power of Youth seeks to engage in youth work practices that support digital entrepreneurship play a vital role in addressing social issues as startups often aim to create positive impacts on society and the environment. Additionally, by promoting digital inclusion, these practices ensure that young people from diverse backgrounds have access to technology and opportunities. As digital entrepreneurship offers flexibility and remote work possibilities, it aligns with the evolving work preferences of young individuals. Emphasizing innovation and technology adoption, youth work practices foster a culture of continuous learning and personal growth. Ultimately, digital entrepreneurship prepares the youth for success in the digital era, equipping them with relevant skills and instilling confidence to pursue their ambitions and contribute meaningfully to society.

The overall objective of this project is to provide the youth participants with a comprehensive understanding of digital entrepreneurship and business development concepts. The specific objectives this project aims to achieve are:

  • To foster a culture of digital innovation: encouraging them to think creatively and develop disruptive ideas for their entrepreneurial ventures.
  • To encourage cross-border collaboration: exchange of diverse perspectives and promoting the formation of international partnerships for future digital entrepreneurship projects.
  • To enhance participants’ pitching and communication abilities: deliver compelling and persuasive pitches for their digital entrepreneurial ideas and develop their confidence, storytelling abilities, and ability to connect with potential investors and stakeholders effectively.
  • To facilitate intercultural exchange: through various activities and workshops the youth participants will have the chance to learn about different cultures, countries, traditions, etc.
  • Promoting Collaborative Learning: Through group activities, we encourage collaborative learning, where participants share their unique financial strategies, offer constructive feedback, and inspire one another to succeed.

The following learning methods have been identified:

  • Ice breakers & Energizers – During the youth exchange, we will organise outside activities at the start of every day, that will help the participants to get to know each other and to foster intercultural exchange among the participants. These will focus on cultural exchange and will seek to encourage the participants to talk about their cultures, tradition in a fun and playful manner.
  • Non-formal educational workshops – addressing different topics with the aim of providing basic understanding of digital entrepreneurship, innovation and possibilities arise with the Internet, AI and other tools available for free.
  • Practical workshops – aiming to provide the participants with and hands-on experience of preparing a business plan and also to enhance their presentation and pitching skills.
  • Outdoor activity to encourage intercultural exchange and communication among the participants
  • Self-reflection activities to promote critical thinking of the participants as well as progress tracking
  • Individual assignments and simulations to equip the participants with skills on how to use social media to raise awareness of their peers.
